Board

A maximum of 30 Effective Members are elected from the SBD membership base, who participate in the organic operation of SBD and have voting rights at the General Assembly.

These Effective Members are elected for a period of 3 years. Each year, only a portion of the Effective Members has to run for re-election, ensuring continuity.

The Effective Members appoint 8 to 10 directors from among themselves: 1 Chairman, 2 Vice-Chairmen, 2 Secretaries, 2 Treasurers and 1 to 3 Councillors. Together they form the Board of Directors. The directors exercise their mandate free of charge. The Executive Director is responsible for the daily operations of the organization.

The SBD Board members and Managing Director represent the SBD members in the following national and international, sectoral and non-sectoral organizations: AWDC; Advisory Committee Professional Cards; Joint Committee 324 for blue collar workers and technical employees in the diamond cutting and polishing industry and diamond trade; Rijksverlofkas voor de Diamantnijverheid; Intern Compensatiefonds voor de Diamantsector; Fonds voor de Diamantnijverheid; Federation of Enterprises in Belgium; Hoge Raad voor de Zelfstandigen en de KMO/ Conseil Supérieur des Indépendants et des PME; International Diamond Manufacturers Association; International Diamond Council and European Council for Diamond Manufacturers.
